Welcome Home Jersey City is an all-volunteer organization who partners with local government, businesses, and other like-minded, not-for-profit organizations to help support local refugees and asylees in the Greater Jersey City area.
Yesterday during Fun Club we gave our superstar ⭐️ volunteer Crystal M. the 2023-2024 Kara Murphy Award to show our gratitude of all the hard work Crystal has dedicated to Welcome Home. As Dave our board chair stated “we cannot do the work we do without our volunteers” which is so true! ❤️Thank you Crystal and to all of our wonderful volunteers for being a part of our community. 🫶🏽

Across cultures and languages, we celebrated World Refugee Day at Fun Club last night with ONE BIG POTLUCK! There were tamales! Freshly made hot hot hot arepas! 🇨🇴There was bolani and biryani!🇦🇫 There were meat pies 🇳🇬 samosas 🇮🇳 and all kinds of empanadas! 🇨🇴🇵🇷🇩🇴 We enlisted the help of some of our friends to cook up some big batches and they sure delivered. Shoutout to King’s Pride Food and Cardamom & Rose Catering tm 🙏🏽![]()

Some old friends returned to hang out, some came with news of marriage and a few showed up with new babies. What a night! ![]()

We were also joined by volunteers from UNIQLO USA who generously served food, cleaned up, and even jumped rope with our kids in the quad.😅 ![]()

Thank you, Costco! We received a $500 gift card donation, and it went to a much-needed refugee family. The dad recently lost his job, and the mom is expecting their fifth child. We ordered diapers, toilet paper, and a lot of other household items. They were SO grateful and happy for the gift! A BIG thumbs-up! Costco 🙏💗🤩

Calling all book lovers! We’re doing our first book sale fundraiser on Sunday 6/2 at 10am-1pm at Treehouse Coffee Shop in downtown Jersey City. Come shop gently used kids/adult books AND grab a cup of coffee. All proceeds will go towards refugees and asylum seekers we support at Welcome Home! 📚💗🙏
