The Alain Fund has been established to honor the memory of Welcome Home’s co-founder and long time volunteer Executive Director Alain Mentha. Donations to the Fund will be used to help children of families assisted by Welcome Home with expenses related to higher education.
Alain was a beacon of light for so many. May his light and life continue to shine through the work of Welcome Home Jersey City.
Saddened by his death even though we only met once briefly. Just seeing and knowing all of the love and energy he gave to refugees and the world in general was inspiring. Sending condolences to all who knew and loved him.
The world is a better place because Alain was in it. May we all help continue to light the way in his honor and memory.

I am so grateful our paths crossed in this frenetic world. You are only one of a few people who truly inspire me. Rest In Peace.

Honored to give in Alain’s memory–he was a wonderful co-worker and I had no idea that he had this rich life serving the refugee community as well. May his memory be a blessing.
My brother Alain was an exceptional person and I will always hold close to my heart memories of him. There are no words that I can use to express my feelings except that I will miss him so much.
I’m proud to have two sons, Alain and Daniel, both generous and caring.
My nephew Alain truly brought light into this world, making it a better place. He was funny, brilliant and kind, and he will live forever in my heart and through the lives of all those he helped.
I cannot find words that have not already been written about my remarkable friend, Alain. The brief time we shared while I lived in NJ left me with many life lessons that I would not have experienced had we not met. I learned so much about how to respect & support those coming to our country for a new life, not just through Alain’s wisdom, but many times because he shared his mistakes with me. He truly grew through those fumbling first steps & I’m ever grateful that he helped me to grow through mine. I, like so many, am just in awe of this life he lived & loved so well. Jennifer & Amelie, my heart goes out to you both. You know how much he cherished you & it was beautiful for all who were fortunate enough to see that love.
In honor and memory of Alain. Sending comfort and strength to Jennifer, Amelie, and the Mentha Family.
Alain was one of the most kind, giving, compassionate people I have ever known. I am so grateful to have known him. He was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to me. May his memory be for a blessing always. Sending love and comfort to Jennifer, Amelie, and all who knew and loved him.
The Aspire Giving Circle mourns the loss of Alain, and is contributing our quarterly gifts in his honor and memory. He was an exceptional human being who not only talked about helping others but put those words into action every single day. Our Giving Circle, which focuses on helping refugee and immigrant families, considered him an inspiration. We know he will live on in the many people he helped, as well as in his wonderful family. We hope that his family and especially his wife and daughter find comfort in the love that he put out into the world; this love remains.
On April 29, 2023 we were honored to attend the bat mitzvah of Alain & Jenn’s daughter, Amelie. She was amazing (no surprise), and is carrying on Alain’s amazing work here at Welcome Home Jersey City. We were so fortunate to have known Alain, and are so blessed to have Amelie and Jenn in our community.
